BJP names its group leader in Sambhajinagar civic body

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The local unit of BJP on Thursday appointed Govind Kendre as the party's group leader for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation. Flanked by the party leaders along with newly elected corporators of BJP, Kendre visited the office of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisional commissioner to complete necessary formalities on Thursday. No names for the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar were announced by BJP till Thursday night. In his congratulatory message, local BJP MLA and cabinet minister Atul Save termed Kendre as a staunch party worker dedicated and committed to the ‘nation first' principle of the party."We are confident that under his leadership, all BJP members in the municipal corporation will work towards good governance and efficient management while upholding the glory of the saffron flag," he said. Kendre, who belongs to the OBC category, is a first-time corporator. His wife had served as the corporator during the previous term of the local civic body.Latur gets mayor and deputy mayor In Latur, Jayashri Sonkamble and advocate Snehal Utage of Congress were appointed mayor and deputy mayor, respectively, on Thursday. The polls for the Latur Municipal Corporation on Jan 15 saw Congress handing over a major defeat to BJP by winning 43 out of 70 seats.The post of mayor was reserved for SC woman category in Latur. No announcement of mayoral candidates was made in Jalna and Nanded from Marathwada where BJP has registered victory in municipal polls. Parbhani also witnessed similar scenes where Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress are likely to join hands unless other political equations work out miraculously.
