BJP local committee divided over Sambhajinagar mayor candidate selection

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Members of BJP's local core committee have failed to agree on a single candidate for the post of mayor of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. As a result, the state leadership is expected to take the final call.Local BJP MLA and cabinet minister Atul Save said around seven to eight names, in combination for the posts of mayor, deputy mayor and the party's group leader, have been sent to the state leadership. "All shortlisted candidates are competitive änd can execute the responsibility. The seniors will take a call," he said.Going by the comments of local BJP functionaries, it was clear that the party is not going to offer the post of deputy mayor to Shiv Sena. A section of Sena workers had earlier said they were hopeful of getting the post of deputy mayor as the party is going to team up with BJP.BJP has 57 out of 115 seats in the local municipal corporation, which is one short of the magic figure required to take control of the House on its own.
