The accused have been identified as Manojkumar Rathod (police inspector) and Ravi Ganpat Jadhav (constable) — both attached to Partur police station.
According to ACB superintendent of police (SP) Madhuri Kangane the complainant is a local businessman who runs a sand transport service using a tipper truck. The accused allegedly demanded a monthly "payment" from him to allow the vehicle to operate without police interference.
"The accused had initially demanded Rs55,000 from the complainant. After negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs30,000," said Kangne.
