Sikh pilgrim dies in Pakistan a little before returning home

AMRITSAR: A Sikh pilgrim who had gone to Pakistan with a jatha to celebrate Vaisakhi died on Monday morning in Lahore.

The deceased, identified as 67-year-old Jangir Singh from Ratta Khera village in Patiala, passed away just before the Sikh jatha was to return home after completion of a 10-day pilgrimage in the neighbouring country.

The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) authorities sent his body back along with the Sikh jatha.

ETPB spokesperson Amir Hashmi informed that Jangir Singh died of a pulmonary arrest at around 4 am on Monday in Lahore.

"It was a natural death, and our condolences are with the family and loved ones," said Hashmi.
