AMRITSAR: Motivated by the increasing global impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Interfaith Shaheedi Commemoration Association (IFSCA), a French Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), is making arrangements to extend an invitation to Prime Minister Modi for the Shanti Prayers event at Neuve Chapelle Memorial in Richebourg city ,France which holds a historical significance, as it witnessed the sacrifice of as many as 4200 to 4500 Indian soldiers in a single day in 1915 during World War I.

"Modi visited this site in 2014, a decade later, we are extending him an invitation to revisit this hallowed ground, paying homage to the Indian heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I” said Ramesh Chander Vohra, President of IFSCA, on Thursday adding that they would also invite French president Emmanuel Maron to participate in Shanti Prayers being held at Neuve-Chapelle memorial , about 245 kilometers from Paris, on March 15.

He informed that the French government had allotted a piece of land to the IFSCA near the Neuve-Chapelle memorial and expressed hope that they would install a statue in memory of a total of the 74000 Indian heroes who had sacrified their lives during World War I.

In reference to the strategically evolving France-India relations, Vohra, a resident of Paris, France, said that President Macron had made two visits to India within a span of six months , first visit took place during the G-20 summit hosted by India, and the second occurred recently on Indian Republic Day, January 26 .He said, "IFSCA believes that when leaders of these two influential nations convene at the memorial, it will bring significant honor to the site, attracting visitors from around the world who will come to pay their homage."

About the preparations for the Shanti Prayers, he informed that an akhand path would also begin on March 13, the bhog of which would be performed on March 15. “The purpose of the Shanti Prayers is to pay homage to the forgotten heroes, providing solace to their souls in the embrace of Almighty''
