Tarsem Singh, father of
Amritpal Singh , jailed Member of Parliament from Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, met the officiating Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, and expressed support for the stand taken by the Akal Takht regarding its objections to the “Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026.”
The meeting was held at the Akal Takht Secretariat on Friday , where various aspects of the proposed legislation were discussed in detail on behalf of the organization.
The leadership of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De clarified that they fully agree with the concerns raised by the Akal Takht regarding the Act, emphasizing that the guidance of the Akal Takht remains supreme in all Panthic matters.
They further stated that the organization will continue to function in accordance with Panthic traditions and principles, adding that upholding the respect of Sikh sentiments and maintaining the Maryada (Sikh code of religious conduct) is a collective responsibility of all.
