TIRUPATI: The incident of a police constable attempting to commit suicide unable to bear the harassment meted out to him by a money lender has sent shockwaves across Nellore district.Police constable Yellasiri Ramesh, a native of Padamatipalem village in Sangam mandal of Nellore district, borrowed a loan for interest from a local money lender identified as Prasad Goud for agricultural purposes.But when his entire crop was submerged in the recent floods and Ramesh failed to promptly repay the borrowing, Prasad Goud reportedly pressurized him to immediately repay his entire principal along with interest.After Ramesh explained about his helplessness and sought some more time to repay him, Prasad Goud began harassing Ramesh to repay his loan.Unable to pool-in money to repay the loan and unable to bear the harassment meted out to him, Ramesh consumed pesticides and tried to commit suicide.But when his family members found him in an unconscious state, they immediately rushed him to a corporate hospital at Nellore, where he is undergoing treatment at present.The suicide note left behind by the victim, which was addressed to the Nellore SP, has now gone viral on various social media platforms, prompting the police to order an enquiry.
