TIRUPATI: Two persons were killed and five others sustained injuries in a road mishap reported near Bangarupalyam in Chittoor district on Saturday.
According to Bangarupalyam police, a group of seven persons from Doddaballapur in Karnataka were heading to Tirumala for darshan and their speeding car overturned after the vehicle's rear tyre burst all of a sudden near a flyover close to Bangarupalyam on Saturday.
The impact of the accident was so severe that two inmates in the car identified as Rangaiah (56) and Lakshmi (35) died on the spot before help could arrive.
Local police first shifted the injured to the govt general hospital at Chittoor but later shifted them to the Kolar medical college hospital after being insisted upon by the family members of the injured.
