TDP MLA Somireddy vows for resumption of container terminal operations at Krishnapatnam port

The TDP legislator accompanied by the Jana Sena and BJP leaders visited the Krishnapatnam port and interacted with the port authorities on Friday.

Speaking to reporters later, Somireddy slammed former Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and former agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy for turning a blind eye to this prestigious project even as the container terminal operations were being shifted out from here to the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.

"From January earlier this year, the opposition parties including the TDP, Jana Sena, BJP and the communist parties resorted to numerous protests to stall the shifting out of the container terminal operations. But the erstwhile YSRCP govt failed to protect the interests of the state, leading to an occupational loss for more than 10000 people", Somireddy lamented.

Now that the TDP govt led by Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is back in office in the state, we are confident of the resumption of the container terminal operations at the Krishnapatnam port soon.

"We communicated to the port CEO GJ Rao and his team to initiate all necessary measures for the resumption of container terminal operations here. If a need arises, we will request our Chief minister to persuade the Adani group Chief Gautam Adani to intervene in the issue as a state revenue to the tune of Rs.1000 crore and employment opportunities for nearly 10000 odd people is at stake", Somireddy reaffirmed.
