TDP chief registers 8th consecutive victory at Kuppam to become the next Chief minister of AP
TIRUPATI: Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu registered his 8th consecutive victory on a trot from his home constituency Kuppam in Chittoor district, to cement his chances as the next Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, as the TDP led NDA alliance registered a landslide victory by winning more than 160 seats out of the total 175 assembly constituencies in the state.
The outgoing YSRCP govt's over ambitious call "why not Kuppam and why not 175" failed to cut ice with the Kuppam voters too, who once again pledged support and rallied strongly behind their 7-time MLA Chandrababu Naidu, to register his 8th consecutive victory on a trot in the 2024 general elections.
Various strategies enforced by the YSRCP leadership led by none other than YS Jagan Mohan Reddy himself and ex minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy to defeat the TDP chief at his home turf, seems to have backfired, as Naidu's majority now increased when compared to the 2019 election outcome.
From the moment, the counting began at 8 am on Tuesday, the TDP chief maintained a healthy lead against the YSRCP candidate and MLC KRJ Bharat and Naidu's majority increased with every round of counting throughout the day.
By the end of the 17th round, the TDP chief took an unassailable lead of 46421 votes, with two more rounds to go. While Naidu secured 118623 votes by the end of 17th round, his rival and YSRCP candidate KRJ Bharat secured only 72202 votes.
In the 2019 elections, when Jagan Mohan Reddy wave swept the YSRCP to power in the state, Naidu secured a majority of 20722 votes only.
With two more rounds of counting left, the NDA chief ministerial candidate Nara Chandrababu Naidu's majority could cross the 50000 votes mark by the end of the counting.
TDP MLC Kancherla Srikanth, who was entrusted the responsibility of ensuring a landslide majority for the Chandrababu Naidu, succeeded in his assignment, as Naidu's majority more than doubled now when compared to the previous elections.
TDP cadres along with Kuppam voters immersed themselves into celebrations as their MLA Nara Chandrababu Naidu not only registered his 8th consecutive victory from Kuppam, but has also led the NDA alliance to such a landslide victory, unheard of in the history of the state of Andhra Pradesh in the 2024 general elections.
