Tamil Nadu couple crushed to death by roadways bus on Tirumala ghat road

TIRUPATI: A devotee couple from Tamil Nadu was crushed to death by a speeding APSRTC bus on Tirumala ghat road on Wednesday. The couple was traveling to Tirumala on a bike.

The local police identified the deceased as AS Karthik and Gayatri, both residents of Pallipattu taluk in Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place on the second ghat road at the last turning before the GNC tollgate. The couple was hit and run over by the speeding bus. Local police and vigilance officials rushed to the scene after being alerted to the mishap.

The bodies were shifted for postmortem, and a case was registered. The police took the driver of the RTC bus, N Kantha Rao, into custody for questioning.
