Sullurupeta SI suspended for gross negligence displayed while investigating an attempt to murder case

TIRUPATI: Sullurupeta sub inspector P Ravi Babu was suspended on disciplinary grounds after charges against him of negligence displayed while investigating an attempt to murder case was proved in an internal departmental enquiry. According to Tirupati SP L Subba Rayudu, when Ravi Babu worked as an SI at the Sullurupeta police station between 28.08.2021 to 09.10.2023, he failed to properly investigate an attempt to murder case even when key witnesses were available for questioning. He also deleted the names of a few accused linked to this case.It also emerged during the departmental enquiry that the SI also failed to submit crucial evidence collected from the scene of crime to the judiciary.Taking a serious note of all these proved accusations against Ravi Babu, Tirupati SP L Subba Rayudu issued orders to place the Sullurupeta SI under suspension with immediate effect from Tuesday.Meanwhile, a police constable identified as K Balaji, who earlier worked at the Gajulamandyam police station near Tirupati, who helped a Chinese national to overstay in India, despite the expiry of his validity period for stay in India, in the year 2021, was suspended on Tuesday.Two other home guards were also suspended on grounds of corruption and deriliction of duty in Tirupati district on Tuesday.
