Retired HC judge asks civil servants not to react on court verdicts
VIJAYAWADA: Expressing serious anxiety that about the recent trend of civil servants and others seeking to descend into the arena of slug-fest over judicial proceedings, former High Court judge, Justice G Krishna Mohan Reddy said that one should be conscious of justification of such attacks.
"The dignity of all the institutions should always be upheld. The reputation of the judiciary rests on proper administration of justice to the litigant public, more particularly the faith of larger society is the life line of the judicial institutions," said Justice Krishna Mohan Reddy.
He said that as a person who served the Judiciary over a period of 32 years, if not longer, he feel pained when uninformed criticism is leveled against this august Institution. When proceedings are at a stage where judicial sanction arising from the judicial remand to custody has been granted by the judiciary, he said, adding that remedies as per law are available to the accused.
"But for a section of the elite it has become a commonplace in the recent times to indulge in puglist-bouts on judicial verdicts- surcharged perhaps by political partisanship on all sides. More concern is the personal attacks against the judges themselves. Judicial norms do not permit such attacks. Given the recent turn of events, I sincerely hope that this highly objectionable trend vanishes as soon as possible," felt Justice Krishna Mohan Reddy. He said that harmony in the society is maintained when institutions are objective. respected and functional.
But if the consequences arising from the Judicial verdicts are dealt with at a personal level of acrimony, abuse and slander, it would be a death knell to the society at large, he remarked.
