Punganur police arrest six interstate burglars

TIRUPATI: Punganur police in Chittoor district arrested six interstate burglars and recovered stolen valuables worth approximately 30 lakh from them. Chittoor SP Y Rishanth Reddy said the six arrested persons are wanted criminals in many Indian states. Following a spike in burglaries in Palamaner, Punganur, Kuppam and other parts of the district in recent weeks, four special teams headed by Palamaner DSP N Sudhakar Reddy were appointed to investigate the cases.

Following credible information, police arrested S Ramesh (51), C Gaviyappa (41), B K Ganesh (38) and Aswath Narayana (34) belonging to Karnataka, and R Govindaraj (35) and S Srinivasan (37) belonging to Tamil Nadu. While the accused from Karnataka are wanted in connection with 115 burglary and house break-in offences, the accused from Tamil Nadu are wanted in connection with over 45 cases.
