Police destroy 6901 litres of seized interstate and illicit liquor in Chittoor district

TIRUPATI: Police destroyed about 6901 litres of seized interstate and illicit liquor during a special drive near Bangarupalyam in Chittoor district on Friday.

According to Chittoor SP VN Manikanta Chandol, following an intensified crackdown on interstate liquor smuggling, attack brewing etc, about 24 cases were so far booked and 6901 litres of liquor seized.

While the value of the liquor seized was approximately Rs.48 lakh, police destroyed the liquor bottles with the help of an earth mover near the mango market at Bangarupalyam on Friday.

Chittoor SP reiterated that the crackdown on liquor smuggling and illicit liquor brewing would further be intensified across the district in the weeks ahead.
