Parents burdened by son's debts end lives in Nandyal district
TIRUPATI: In a tragic development, parents who were burdened by the burgeoning debts of their son committed suicide at Abdullahpuram village in Velugodu mandal of Nandyal district.
The deceased were identified as Maheswar Reddy (40) and his wife Shanti (35).
According to Velugodu SI Bhupaludu, the duo reportedly were vexed with their lives as their son Nikhilesh Reddy, who got addicted to online betting and other vices, accumulated huge debts for the family.
Maheswar Reddy and Shanti, who were in no position to repay their son's debts, consumed pesticides and ended their lives at their own farmland at Abdullahpuram village earlier today.
Local police registered a case and shifted the body of the deceased for postmortem. Police are further investigating.
