In-charge principal and her husband booked under POCSO Act at Lakkireddypalli
In-charge principal and her husband were booked under the protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act after he sexually assaulted a class V student at the Ambedkar Gurukul school at Lakkireddypalli in Annamayya district.
The incident came to light after students, parents and representatives of various students organizations held protests at the Gurukul school, demanding justice for the minor girl and steen action to be initiated against the in-charge principal and her husband.
State minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and Annamayya district collector CH Sridhar conducted an enquiry at the school and interacted with the students and the parents separately, following which several startling allegations of sexual exploitation of girl students came to light.
Several students complained to the minister and the district collector that in-charge principal Parimala's husband Bala Subbaiah, used to barge into the bathrooms and misbehave with the girl students when they were bathing.
Class X and intermediate girl students alleged that Bala Subbaiah had also captured their nude photos and videos and used to blackmail them.
Further investigating by the officials revealed that past midnight on Sunday, the principal's husband went into the hostel in a highly inebriated state and sexually assaulted a class V student. He later warned her of dire consequences if she spoke about the incident with anyone.
However, after fellow hostel inmates realised the victim's ordeal, they got the girl admitted to a local hospital, with the help of a teacher.
Though in-charge principal Parimala once again threatened the victim and other students and tried to silence them, students at the Gurukul school and college along with their parents and others staged protests at the school premises, after which the incident came to light.
Taking a serious note of the developments, district collector CH Sridhar immediately issued suspension orders to incharge principal Parimala, health supervisor Lakshmi Devi and security guard Naga Lakshmi.
The district collector also directed the Lakkireddypalli police to book Parimala and her husband Bala Subbaiah under the POCSO Act and the duo have been taken into custody.
