Central govt approves AP govt's proposal to appoint IRS officer CH Venkaiah Chowdary as TTD JEO

TIRUPATI: Government of India has accorded approval for the proposals sent to it by the Andhra Pradesh govt for the appointment of 2005 batch IRS officer CH Venkaiah Chowdary as the joint executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams for a period of three years on Tuesday.

He had earlier worked as the vice chairman and managing director of the AP mineral development corporation limited.

According to sources in the state govt, Venkaiah Chowdary was handpicked by Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, with an intention to be appointed as the TTD's JEO at Tirumala in order to streamline the pilgrim services and temple administration at the world renowned Tirumala temple in line with the sentiments of the visiting devotees.

It may be recalled that after assuming charge as the Chief minister of the state, Naidu expressed anguish over the sorry state of affairs at Tirumala and affirmed that the clean-up of the state would being from Tirumala.

While senior IAS officer J Syamala Rao was appointed as the new executive officer of the TTD about a month ago, Venkaiah Chowdary is all set to be appointed by the AP govt as the new JEO at Tirumala, which is considered to be the second top administrative position in the Tirupati trust.
