AP govt appoints 1997 batch IAS officer J Syamala Rao as new TTD EO

TIRUPATI: The TDP led NDA govt appointed principal secretary J Syamala Rao as the new executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on Friday.

J Syamala Rao is a 1997 batch IAS officer, who earlier worked in various departments including health and family welfare, municipal administration & urban development, food/consumer affairs etc. He had also served as the district collector of Visakhapatnam between 2009-2011.

He is right now working as a Principal secretary in the higher education department.

His appointment at the top most administrative post in the TTD, comes at a point of time, when the new govt sanctioned one week long casual leave to additional EO and in-charge EO (FAC) AV Dharma Reddy after a lot of dilly dallying, and after directing him not to leave the state.

After Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's remarks that the new govt will embark on a clean-up drive right from Tirumala itself to undo the damage done by the YSRCP govt at Tirumala as well as across Andhra Pradesh, Syamala Rao's appointment as TTD EO assumes significance.
