Andhra Pradesh govt offers Rs 10 lakh compensation to minor rape victim's kin

AMARAVATI: V Anitha, the Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had approved a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the nine-year-old girl who was gang-raped in Nandyal district. The girl was last seen playing in a park in Mucchumarri village before she was allegedly gang-raped by three boys and pushed into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation Canal on July 7.

The girl's body has not been found yet, as the boys have been providing inconsistent information about its location, according to Anitha. Police and National Disaster Response Force personnel are continuing their search for the body. The police have decided to arrest the boys and present them in a juvenile court.

In a separate incident, the Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for an infant girl who was allegedly raped by a male relative in Vizianagaram district. Anitha stated that the money would be deposited as a fixed amount in favor of the infant.

According to the police, the six-month-old infant was allegedly "molested" by Dora, a 40-year-old man who was considered a grandfather-like figure, in Ramabhadrapuram village on Saturday. The incident occurred when the infant's mother went out to buy vegetables.

Dora was arrested under BNS Section 65 (2) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Section 5 (M) read with 6, and later sent on remand. The police stated that the entire incident took place within about 10 minutes, and Dora attempted to feign ignorance by claiming he was drunk.
