Two minor brothers drown in Ganga, 2 rescued in Prayagraj

Prayagraj: Two minor brothers drowned in the Ganga while swimming at Manaiya Ghat under the Industrial Area police station limits on Tuesday morning. Two others, including a relative who attempted a rescue, were saved by local swimmers.

The deceased, Rajan (16) and his younger brother Abhishek (13), were residents of Mugari Saldi Ka Pura village. The incident occurred when three teenage boys from the same family and their relative went to the river for a swim around 9.30 am.

According to police, the boys ventured into deep waters and began drowning. Their relative, Pankaj, jumped into the river in an attempt to save them, but was unable to rescue them.

Local swimmers managed to pull Sunny, another teenager, and Pankaj to safety. However, Rajan and Abhishek disappeared in the strong current.

On receiving information, teams from the Industrial Area police station, assisted by local swimmers, launched a search operation and later recovered the bodies.
