PM Modi prays at Sangam for Kumbh’s success
Prayagraj: Amid the chanting of Vedic mantras, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday offered prayers at the Triveni Sangam — the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati — and sought blessings for the successful organisation of the upcoming Maha Kumbh beginning Jan 13. The 45-day Maha Kumbh will take place on the banks of the Ganga from Jan 13 to Feb 26.The PM arrived at the Sangam Nose on the Nishadraj Cruise, boarding it via the floating jetty at Quila Ghat. Clad in a white kurta-pajama, blue jacket and a maroon shawl, he admired the Sangam's clean water while standing on the cruise deck. Upon arrival at Sangam Nose, he was welcomed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel. The PM also interacted with saints who presented him with a pearl garland as a token of blessings.The PM then proceeded to a specially constructed pandal at Sangam Nose, where he met and interacted with teerth purohits. Amid the chanting of Vedic mantras, PM performed Jalabhishek and Dudhbhishek of the Triveni. PM also offered akshat, chandan, roli, flowers, and traditional clothing at the Triveni as part of the ceremony. He also performed the Sangam Aarti. Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath were also present during the ceremony.Modi also participated in a photoshoot. From there, the PM visited the Akshayvat.Seeking the successful organisation of the world's biggest religious and spiritual congregation, he bowed before the sacred tree, performed rituals, and lit a ceremonial lamp to invoke positive energy and divine grace. He also performed ‘pradakshina' (circumambulation) at the Akshayvat.Akshayavat is revered as the embodiment of Lord Vishnu's Veni Madhav, the protector deity of Prayagraj. During his visit, the PM also reviewed the corridor development projects, including the Akshayavat Corridor, around the site. He assessed efforts made to ensure smooth and accessible visits for the millions of devotees expected during the Maha Kumbh.
