Patharchatti Ram Lila’s episodes to be performed in varied dance forms

Prayagraj: With Patharchatti Ram Lila committee all set to organise Ram Lila in a grand way in Sangam City from October 15, chorographers and dance directors are imparting training the Ram Lila artists to perform various episodes using different dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Mohiniyattam, tribal, folk and classical. While Sugreev Darbar would be presented using Mohiniyattam dance form, Bharatnatyam would be the dance form to showcase ‘Ravana darbar’. Similar, artists are preparing to present ‘Ram vivah’ episode in folk dance and would use tribal dance form for ‘Ram van gaman’. The Patharchatti Ram Lila will begin on October 16 and will continue till October25. Noted dance director, Purnima Dev Kumar told TOI, “Over two dozen artists will exhibit their acting and dancing talents at the Patharchatti Ram Lila ground for which they are going through rigorous dance training and have been practicing at least six hours a day to make the event spectacular and scintillating.” “Artists are passionate and energetic to perform various characters through different dance forms,” added Purnima. Spectators too, she claimed, will like and appreciate the episodes being performed through different dance forms. Currently, artists are busy in learning the right forms and how to amalgamate dance and acting into their performances. Purnima, associated with the Patharchatti Ram Lila committee for the past 15 years, has won many awards. She along with her group members were also part in the Republic Day parade (Uttar Pradesh tableaux) this year. After completing her MA in Music-vocal from Allahabad University, she also gained Prabhakar degree in Kathak.

Aum Panchamritam brings together various dance forms

The second edition of the Aum Panchamritam Dance Festival will take place at the MLR Convention Center in Bengaluru. The festival, conceptualized by Shringar Mani Guru SDebasish Pattnaik, brings together five different types of Indian classical dances - Odissi, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and Mohiniattam. Renowned artists from these dance forms will showcase their talent on one stage, highlighting the diversity and beauty of Indian classical dance. The festival is named after Panchamritam, a sacred concoction used in rituals and distributed as prasad. Sandalwood lyricist Kaviraj will be the chief guest.

Contestants on the dance reality show Indias Best Dancer 3 are giving their all as they vie for a spot in the Top 6. Former Miss World Manushi Chillar praised contestant Samarpan Lama for his breathtaking contemporary performance and presented him with a rose. Judge Terence Lewis also commended Samarpan, comparing himself to Dronacharya and Samarpan to Arjun. Manushi said Samarpan's performance reminded her of Terence's artistry and praised his technique and unique style.
