ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday issued notice to officiating chairman of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) Sunil Kumar Jain and a member of UPPSC Syed Farman Ali on a PIL which has challenged their appointment to the said posts.
Hearing a PIL filed by Dr Dharmendara of Gorakhpur, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Dhananajay Yeshwant Chandrachud and Justice Yashwant Varma also directed the state government and the UPPSC authorities to file their respective replies (counter affidavits).
The court also fixed February 25 as the next date of hearing.
In the PIL, it was alleged that there is a criminal case registered against Jain and ignoring the same, he was appointed as member and thereafter, he was made officiating chairman because of his being the senior most member of UPPSC. In addition to it, the petitioner alleged that the appointment of Ali is also arbitrary.
