Driver killed, 4 injured as bus rams into truck

Prayagraj: A UPSRTC bus driver was killed and four others, including the conductor, were injured after the bus carrying more than a dozen passengers rammed into a parked truck near Chittaura turn on the Kanpur–Prayagraj Highway under the Malwa police station area of Fatehpur district early on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rana Vijay Singh (30), a resident of Patti in Pratapgarh district. The injured, including conductor Surendra Kumar of Handia and three passengers, were rushed to Allipur Medical College. They were discharged after receiving first aid.

Police said the accident occurred around 6.30 am when the bus was travelling from Kanpur to Prayagraj. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely mangled.

Additional police personnel were deployed at the spot to clear the highway and restore the smooth movement of traffic.
