‘Substance’ thrown at girls inside govt school sparks scare

Ajmer: Four girls of a government school in Bhilwara’s Mandalgarh were ferried to a nearby hospital on Tuesday after someone threw a liquid ‘substance’ on them inside the school.
Additional SP (Bhilwara) Chanchal Mishra dispelled reports that it was an acid attack and said that all the girls were safe.
The police officer said the girl had reprimanded a boy from a nomadic community residing behind the school premises. This nine-year-old boy allegedly threw a water-like substance from the school window at the four girls, who were then taken to hospital as they complained of injuries.
“The girls are all safe and they have no injuries,” the additional SP said.Police said they would speak to doctors to ascertain the type of substance that was thrown.
Soon after the incident, messages about acid being thrown at school girls spread in the area. Parents flocked to the school to check on their children, while a posse of senior police officers descended on the scene to enquire about what had transpired.
Mishra, along with DSP (Mandalgarh) Kirti Singh, examined the scene. They soon learned that some nomadic people lived behind the school. The students told police that the substance was thrown from a small window. The school administration rushed to the cries of the girls and took them to hospital. A team from the local police was alerted and it examined the entire school campus.
