Thaltej businessman alleges extortion by two sisters
AHMEDABAD: A 32-year-old businessman from Thaltej filed a complaint of extortion and breach of trust against two sisters from the same area on Sunday.
Harish Prajapati, a resident of Hariharashray Bunglows, who runs a grocery supermarket in the area, said that the accused, Tina Nirmal, 33, had been visiting his shop since 2013. She had introduced herself as a software engineer.
In 2017, Tina made an app for his business for Rs 1.60 lakh, after which he and Tina began meeting at regular intervals. In 2020, Tina got infected with Covid-19 and Prajapati took care of her. Soon, they fell in love.
Prajapati said he had told Tina that he was already married and had a child, but, according to the complainant, Tina told him that she wanted to be in relationship with him. Prajapati said that he had bought a flat for her and they used to meet frequently at the flat. He said Tina became pregnant and her sister Shanti, 39, took her to a doctor and aborted the fetus in April 2022. The sisters then began blackmailing him with the threat to implicate him in a rape case.
The businessman then bought another flat for Tina and also paid Rs 10 lakh. He said that she had filed a complaint of rape against him in February and demanded Rs 4 lakh to strike a compromise. She then demanded Rs 1 crore money and Rs 60,000 every month to withdraw her complaint.
Prajapati alleged that the sisters often abducted him and took him to different places and extorted money.
In July, they went to Ujjain where she allegedly made him drink liquor and had sex with him, he alleged. After a month, she again demanded Rs 2.50 lakh saying that she was pregnant.
Aggrieved with the constant harassment, Prajapati approached Bodakdev police and filed a complaint against Tina and Shanti.
