Second Steel Bridge Erected in Ahmedabad for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project

The second steel bridge for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has been successfully erected in Ahmedabad over the Cadila bridge, marking a key milestone in the high-speed rail corridor. The bridge ensures uninterrupted progress of the corridor’s infrastructure development.

The newly constructed bridge spans 70 metres and weighs 670 metric tonnes. Fabricated in Navsari, the massive steel structure was transported to Ahmedabad using specialised heavy-duty trailers, showcasing the scale and precision involved in bullet train infrastructure projects.

Erected over the Cadila bridge in Ahmedabad, this steel structure is critical for the bullet train corridor. Its location ensures seamless integration with existing rail infrastructure and supports the planned high-speed rail alignment across urban and industrial zones.

The bridge was assembled adjacent to the railway tracks and elevated 16.5 metres above ground. This method ensured safety, precision, and minimal disruption to ongoing transport activities while maintaining alignment with the corridor’s engineering standards.

The bridge is one of 28 steel bridges planned along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. Gujarat will have 17 bridges, while Maharashtra will have 11, ensuring smooth high-speed rail operations and connectivity across the states.

Fabricated in Navsari, the bridge’s components were carefully transported to Ahmedabad using specialised trailers. The operation demonstrates advanced logistical planning and engineering expertise, highlighting India’s capacity to handle large-scale high-speed rail infrastructure.

The erection of the second steel bridge is a major milestone, signalling steady progress in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. It reflects the project’s adherence to timelines and readiness to meet India’s first high-speed rail operational standards.
