TRP game zone

A devastating blaze engulfed a privately-owned two-story building housing TRP Game Zone on Nana Mauva Road in Rajkot on Saturday, claiming the lives of several individuals, including nine young children. The victims were tragically burned to death in the inferno.

2/7

Summer vacation crowd

Sources said at least 300 people were present in the game zone due to summer vacation and weekend.

3/7

Structure crumbling

The fire broke out at around 6pm and the temporary structure made of fabric with some portions erected using iron and steel started crumbling as the flames spread.

4/7

Narrow passage

Eyewitnesses said the passage from where visitors had to enter and exit was extremely narrow and it was also engulfed in flames. As a result, neither the people could come out nor the fire brigade teams could enter.

5/7

Rescue operations difficult

The fire bridge men had to bring in two ladders, climb up to the second floor, and jump inside to rescue people. There were only two motors for sprinkling water in case of any eventuality but they were dysfunctional.

6/7

Short-circuit

Although a short-circuit is commonly thought to have initiated the fire, officials from the fire department have indicated that the precise cause will only be determined after a thorough investigation has been conducted.

7/7

Inspect gaming zones

In response to the incident, Gujarat government ordered all eight municipal corporations to form panels including fire, revenue, engineering, and police officials to inspect all gaming zones in their cities.
