Man dies after slitting wrist in Ramol
Ahmedabad: Tension gripped a locality in Ramol after locals discovered a man’s body in a pool of blood on Monday morning. The dead man, identified as Ghanshyam Prajapati, 34, is believed to have died by suicide in the public area by slitting his right wrist with a glass shard, police said.
According to Ramol police inspector V D Mori, Prajapati, a bachelor, took the extreme step late on Sunday night, and died at the scene from heavy blood loss. Locals alerted police after finding the body, which was then sent for postmortem. Policemen at the spot found Prajapati’s wallet, phone and the piece of glass believed to have been used for the suicide.
Police said the reason behind the suicide remains unclear. His phone was locked, preventing officers from immediately accessing call records or other details. Cops said that eyewitnesses revealed that Prajapati was probably drunk. Prajapati had fallen off a public bench and a biker seated next to him had lifted him and put him to sleep on the bench, police said. Having registered a case, Ramol police are now questioning his family members and locals.
