AHMEDABAD: The notorious criminal Mohammed Sharif Shaikh alias
Kalu Gardan
and his aide Sarfaraz Shaikh alias Purple, were on Thursday
booked
by Vejalpur police for trying to kill a Juhapura-based cable operator and his friend.
According to the FIR filed by Salimkhan Pathan, a resident of Sankalitnagar in Juhapura, the cable operator, Gardan and Purple attacked him with iron rods and a sword near Azeem Park Road in Juhapura. Before that, they had assaulted his friend, Faizan Shaikh.
Pathan stated in his FIR with Vejalpur police that Faizan called him up on Wednesday night and hurriedly told him that Gardan and Purple would kill him and sought his help. Pathan had almost reached his house when Gardan and Purple along with an unknown man started assaulting him, the FIR states.
“Gardan attacked me with an iron rod and Purple tried to hit me on the head with a sword. As I blocked the attack, I suffered a wound to my right hand. The two others were continuously hitting me,” Pathan stated in the FIR.
As Pathan fell, bleeding heavily, the three left but not before threatening to kill him. Locals called an ambulance and took him to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hospital in Ellisbridge. Faizan was also shifted to the hospital. Neither Pathan nor Faizan said anything about why they were attacked.
Gardan was earlier booked for the murder of RTI activist Nadeem Saiyed in 2011 but was later acquitted for lack of evidence. He is allegedly into bootlegging.
