‘Fuel supplies steady despite spike in demand across Gujarat’
Ahmedabad: Public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Tuesday said petrol, diesel and LPG supplies across Gujarat remain uninterrupted despite a seasonal rise in demand. According to PSU OMCs, petrol (MS) retail sales in Gujarat increased 28% year-on-year in May, while diesel (HSD) sales rose 41% during the same period.
Officials attributed the sharp increase in diesel consumption to heightened agricultural activity, with farmers preparing fields for sowing operations across several districts. The companies said logistics and supply operations were being closely monitored to ensure smooth fuel availability for both agricultural and household use.
Consumers from districts including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Valsad, Navsari, Kheda, Anand and Amreli reported uninterrupted diesel supply at PSU-run fuel stations, the companies said.
PSU OMCs also urged citizens to avoid panic buying, stating that sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG are available across the country, and supplies continue to remain stable.
