BCom students now able to do BEd

Ahmedabad: Students of BCom will now be able to take admission into Bachelor of Education (BEd) courses run by the Gujarat University.
Earlier, only students who have completed MCom were deemed eligible to take admission into BEd courses. This is because there are no subjects related to commerce at secondary school level and students who want to teach in higher secondary school need to have completed a post graduate degree.
Trustee of one of the BEd college Jashwant Thakkar, however, recently petitioned that National Council for Teacher's Education (NCTE) allows all graduates to be eligible to seek admission in the BEd courses.GU has now directed that BCom students be allowed to take admission in the teacher's education course.
