Man seen with girl from another community, beaten up

: A 24-year-old youth was allegedly beaten up in public by few unidentified persons in Delhi gate area of Aligarh on Tuesday evening after he was seen with a

girl

from

another community

.

The youth was arrested by police on the charges of using criminal force against the woman, with intent to outrage her modesty.

According to police, the youth was arrested on the basis of a complaint given by the girl’s brother. However, in a video clip, the girl can be clearly seen trying to help the

man

and pleading to others not to beat him up.

SSI Delhi gate Umesh Kumar Yadav told TOI that a case has been registered against the man under relevant sections of IPC and has been arrested. He said the boy owns a ready-made garments shop in Jagan area where the girl’s house is located.

Former mayor, Shakuntala Bharti, who reached the police station, claimed that the boy has been following the girl for the past few days. She demanded that a strong action be taken against such people.
