EC special roll observer reviews SIR-2026 progress in Agra division
Agra: A review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls was held in Agra on Friday by joint secretary of agriculture and farmers' welfare department and special roll observer Sanjay Kumar Agrawal appointed by the Election Commission.
The meeting included presentations by Agra division districts on constituency-wise progress, data on the total number of assembly constituencies, data on voters – including male and female, gender ratio, EP ratio, voters with disabilities, service voters, voters aged 85 years and above, and the youth. The official also reviewed information on the deployment of electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, supervisors and booth-level officers (BLOs).
During the meeting, Agrawal sought constituency-wise updates on digitisation and mapping of voters, appointment of booth-level agents by political parties, processing and disposal of Form 6 applications, requests received through the ‘book a call' facility, grievances registered on toll-free number 1950, and the national govt services portal and their redressal.
He also reviewed the status of notices issued to unmapped voters, hearing procedures and actions taken during special campaigns for claims and objections, and directed that hearings related to unmapped voters should be attended only by the voter concerned, or a person or family member duly authorised by the voter. He emphasised strict adherence to this process while disposing of notices.
Agrawal also instructed officials to ensure 100% delivery of notices generated under SIR to unmapped voters through BLOs, and to complete the disposal of notices issued to voters whose mapping with the 2003 electoral roll remain incomplete.
