Balachandran, along with secretary of the group TK Harikumar and treasurer G Easwari Amma, were charged under sections 467, 468, 471, 420, 406, 409 and 120B of IPC.

Justice Arindam Lodh has directed SP (Alappuzha) in Kerala to produce them in court on or before June 30.
GEN had set up a 100-seat medical college in Agartala in 2004, acquiring land and a building of the state government on lease. But the college was closed down in 2008 and the state government had to take it over as the future of 200 MBBS students, over 900 doctors and other employees were at stake.
It was later learnt that GEN did not have the necessary permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI) for admitting students in the 2008-09 session. There are also allegations of employees not having been paid their due salaries. GEN also received huge grants to the tune of Rs 25 crore from the state government and Rs 25 crore from HUDCO.
Having failed to secure MCI recognition even after moving the Supreme Court, the firm wrapped up its operations in the state. Subsequently, the state government moved the high court, seeking action against the company. Since the accused persons have failed to respond to the court's summons, a non-bailable warrant was issued against them on Tuesday.
