Centre to sanction 2800cr for Tripura

Agartala: The Union ministry of road transport and highways has agreed in principle to sanction projects worth Rs 2800 crore to improve Tripura’s economy and communication infrastructure. This was decided at a meeting between Tripura CM Manik Saha and Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Monday, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has agreed to fund Rs 2800 crore for Tripuras infrastructure projects, following Chief Minister Manik Sahas demands. Key projects include the Agartala Eastern Bypass and widening roads to enhance connectivity and economic growth. Concerns over NHIDCLs project quality were also addressed in the meeting.

US sanctions 2 Indians for 'ties' to Houthis transporting Iranian oil

The US has sanctioned 18 entities, including two Indians, for their alleged involvement in a Houthi network transporting Iranian oil. This network, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, funds Houthi attacks on Israel and disrupts Red Sea shipping. Companies include Marshall Islands' Changtai Shipping and UAE-based Indo Gulf Ship Management.

Movement along Bangladesh border in Tripura prohibited

West Tripura officials have imposed an evening curfew along a 500-meter stretch of the India-Bangladesh border in response to increased illegal crossings and anti-Indian activities from Bangladesh. Public movement is restricted between 8 pm and 5 am until December 19. Security forces and essential service providers are exempt from the restrictions. Violators face prosecution.
