NEW DELHI: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday presented her eighth consecutive Budget. This brings her closer to the record of 10 budgets presented by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who holds the record for the most budgets presented across different terms. She is also the first woman to serve as a full-time finance minister.
The Budget for the financial year starting April 2025 (FY2025-26) was the 14th consecutive Budget under the Narendra Modi government since 2014. This includes two interim Budgets presented before the general elections in 2019 and 2024.
Here are some of the most used words in Nirmala Sitharaman's Budget speech
An analysis of Sitharaman’s speech showed that the word
"tax" was mentioned the most, appearing 87 times.
During her speech, Sitharaman announced a tax benefit ensuring that individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually under the new tax framework will not have to pay any taxes.
The word
"reforms" was used 30 times, followed by
"budget" which appeared 21 times.
The FinMin used
"MSME" for a significant 15 times in her speech.
Other key terms included
"export", which was mentioned 11 times, and
"youth", which was used 10 times in the speech.
The
"growth" was also mentioned 11 times.
In her speech, the FinMin used
"Economy" word 7 times, while
"Bihar" and
"Agriculture" were mentioned 6 times.
The government announced several major initiatives for Bihar in the Budget, including the creation of a makhana board, a greenfield airport, and financial assistance for the Western Koshi Canal Project in the Mithilanchal region.
Presenting the Union Budget 2025-26, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman also announced the establishment of a National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management in Bihar. Additionally, hostel facilities and other infrastructure at IIT Patna will be expanded.
Other measures for Bihar include increasing the capacity of Patna airport and developing a brownfield airport at Bihta.
