HYDERABAD: New Delhi-based smart TV maker, Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd (SPPL),
Kodak and Thomson brand licensee, is exploring the possibility of setting up a manufacturing facility in the south, SPPL director and CEO Avneet Singh Marwah said here on Wednesday.
The company currently has three Smart TV manufacturing units in northern India – Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and Noida -- with a combined manufacturing capacity of around 60,000 units of Smart TVs per month.
It has also in the process of investing Rs 150 crore towards expanding its manufacturing capacity by adding a new line of production at its Noida plant.
“We are looking at having a manufacturing plant in South and are studying various options here. We are keenly watching the policy changes and our decision will be based on it,” he said on the sidelines of the launch of 43-inch Kodak 4K 43UHDXSmart LED TV.
The company had clocked around Rs 220 crore last fiscal is eyeing Rs 500 crore this fiscal. “We are targeting sales of 2 lakh TVs in the current financial year and will take it to 3.5 lakh units in 2019-2020,” he added. Besides, the company is also planning to launch washing machines this year.
