Reliance Communication slips 6%
MUMBAI: The bearish sentiment in the stock market took a heavy toll on the sensex-debutante Reliance Communications on Monday. The Rel Comm stock ended its first day in the sensex deep in the red, at Rs 207, down 6.4% on the day.
Since listing just about three months ago at Rs 290 on the BSE, the stock is now down nearly 29%. Compared to the fall in the Rel Comm stock since listing, the sensex is now nearly 18% down.
Rel Comm was included in the 30-share BSE sensex from Monday replacing Tata Power.
It has been included in the sensex in just about three months after it was listed on the BSE.
This also makes it the stock to be included in this elite index in the shortest time post-listing.
With a market-cap of nearly Rs 25,300 crore and a free-float adjustment factor of 0.65, the stock has a weight of 2.8%.
The BSE index follows a free-float methodology that takes into account only market-cap of non-promoter portion of the total equity cap, rather than the whole market cap.
