Environmental protection and measures to be taken by ports, says chairman Rama Mohan Rao at open house trade meet

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Port Authority Chairman K Rama Mohana Rao said that everything is interdependent and interlinked in the digital world. He informed about the new concept of portlord model similar to the landlord model, where it is giving utmost importance to the environment and to make the city pollution free.

While delivering the speech at the Open House Trade Meet organized by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) in Association with Visakhapatnam Port Authority here, the Port Chairman Rama Mohan Rao stressed the environmental protection and measures taken up by the port.

Said that Concor is going to increase rail connectivity from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad for easing the cargo movement. The Port Deputy Chairman Durgesh Kumar Dubey mentioned about the recent inauguration of a second terminal at Visakhapatnam Port, which will be helpful to handle 10 lakhs tonnes capacity.

Commissioner of GST, Visakhapatnam, MRR Reddy briefed about the GST claim procedure and said that acknowledgment will be issued within 15 days from the date of application for refund. He mentioned about GST Seva Kendra to offer the services and resolve the problems.

Commissioner Customs at Visakhapatnam, K Engineer, said that 90% of the Exim activities are being handled by machines in the present globalized world without physical interventions. The customs department is closely working to reduce the logistics costs to make the business cost-effective.

The president of FAPCCI Karunendra S Jasti informed about the recent MoU signed between FAPCCI and the Thai Chambers of Commerce. He requested all the officials to make the business cost-effective with the simplified procedure and proposed to create an app that will help the trade and industry community.
