NEW DELHI: Banks will remain closed in several parts of the country today on account of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakri Eid)/Id-ul-Zuha, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.
Customers planning to visit bank branches are advised to check local holiday schedules in advance as bank holidays vary across states and Union Territories.
As per the RBI schedule, banks will remain shut across most states today for Bakri Eid celebrations. However, bank branches will remain open in Sikkim, Assam, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh.
Customers should note that branch-related services such as cheque clearance, cash deposits, demand draft issuance, passbook updates and other in-person banking work may be affected during the holiday.
Despite the branch closures, digital banking services will continue to function normally. Customers can access internet banking, mobile banking applications, ATMs and UPI platforms for money transfers, bill payments and other essential banking services without disruption.
Banks across India also remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, apart from national and regional holidays observed under RBI guidelines.
Customers are advised to complete important branch-related work in advance and use digital banking channels to avoid inconvenience during the holiday period.
