Sand scooter helps BSF add speed to its patrolling in Thar Desert of Rajasthan, where India-Pakistan border runs for over a thousand kilometers. The sand scooter can climb waves of sand dunes effortlessly, while reaching a speed of 40 kmph. It can carry six jawans at a time.

BSF guards the estuarine areas of the Sunderbans in West Bengal and the creeks of Gujarat on a fast patrol boat. Each can carry about 8 soldiers and are effective to chase infiltrators faster than regular boats.

A Fast Attack Craft (FAC) helps BSF to patrol the creeks of Gujarat. It is bigger and sturdier than the fast patrol boats and can operate on shallow waters. Each can accommodate 16 soldiers. It's armed and equipped with modern surveillance gadgets to increase accuracy.

BSF has seven floating BOPs (Border Outpost) deployed along the border with Bangladesh in the Sunderbans and along the coast of Gujarat bordering Pakistan. Each of these self-sufficient vessels can house 30-40 soldiers at a time and move at a speed of around 8 knots per hour.
