JK Tyre Levitas Ultra tested: Capable to fulfil luxury demands?
The review is based on Arpit Mahendra's driving experience and personal observations of the tyres.
JK Tyre is stepping up to challenge the premium tyre market, setting its sights on larger luxury sedans and SUVs with its new range, the Levitas Ultra. To put the Levitas Ultra to the test, we headed to the renowned NATRAX facility near Indore, where we drove models like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A6, and BMW 3 and 5 Series to see just what these tyres had to offer. Here are our observations after putting the tyres under different types of conditions.
One of the standout features of the Levitas Ultra is its whisper-quiet operation. Road noise is reduced to a near minimum, giving the drive a refined, luxury feel that goes well with the cars it’s designed for.
Another thing that impressed us was the grip. Whether it was pacy straights or challenging corners, the Levitas Ultra proved more than capable of handling high-stress situations. The tyres showed excellent grip, thus instilling confidence to push the limits. Even with high-speed cornering and the pressure on sidewalls, the tyres firmly held their ground.
JK Tyre has ensured that the Levitas Ultra meets the highest standards for wet weather performance. In our tests, the tyres performed exceptionally well during wet braking, reducing stopping distances and minimizing the risk of aquaplaning. This impressive wet grip will be a key advantage for Indian road conditions, where rains often catch drivers off guard.
The tyres are designed to handle the rough roads of India but that test is something we'll do at a later stage. The Levitas Ultra are offered in 16 to 20-inch sizes, priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 18,000, depending on size. They come with a W speed rating (up to 270 kmph) or Y (up to 300 kmph).
For initial impressions, the tyre is excellent in all tested departments and provides a value-for-money alternative with longer life on offer but without any compromise on performance or safety.
