Aligned with the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and Circular Economy Policy, the 80,000 sq ft facility will recycle 3,000 tons of Lithium-ion batteries annually, repurposing 15MWh battery capacity into Energy Storage Systems. As part of the agreement, UAE will be utilizing Lohum’s recycling technology in achieving responsible battery waste management in the country and globally.

The UAE's support for the plant aligns with its EV Market initiative and Net Zero by 2050 goals. BEEAH emphasizes the importance of circular solutions in the face of EV growth, highlighting the plant's role in reintroducing valuable materials into the circular economy, reducing landfill waste, and supporting long-term EV sustainability.

On the other hand, the expansion into the UAE market signifies a significant milestone for Lohum, positioning it as the first battery lifecycle management company in the UAE to integrate recycling, reuse, repurposing, and cell manufacturing under one roof.

Aligned with the National Electric Vehicles Policy, the MoEI initiated the "Global EV Market" project earlier this year, with the goal of transforming the UAE into a worldwide hub for electric vehicles and achieving a 50 percent share of EVs among all vehicles on the roads by 2050.

The initiative not only drives Lohum's global growth but also enhances the UAE's energy security by establishing a low-carbon supply of recycled battery materials for the clean energy transition.
