F1 2023: Alpine raises €200m from Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds and other investors

Formula One team Alpine has secured a €200m cash funding from a group of investors, including Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, to support the French team's sporting ambitions. Alpine currently sits on fifth in the 2023 Constructors’ Championship – a place lower than they finished the last year. The team has been looking for investment to help close the gap to the league leaders.

The investor group consists of Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, and have acquired a 24% stake in the F1 team. Following the investment, the transaction values Alpine Racing Ltd around $900 million. The group have also worked with NFL side Dallas Cowboys, America’s National Football League (NFL), French football club Toulouse FC and English football team Wrexham AFC.




Alpine F1 team says that it will benefit from the investor group’s collective expertise and track record in the sports industry including media, sponsorship, ticketing, hospitality, commercial rights management, licensing, and merchandising strategies to unlock incremental value creation and new growth levers. The team will also benefit from the group's expertise in data and technology, key enablers of marketing and commercial performance.




As the Championship stands, Alpine currently have 44 points to their name so far this season, 277 off Red Bull Racing's 321-point tally. Between the two, there's Mercedes, Aston Martin and then Ferrari - all at least 78 points clear off the French team. Alpine currently has an all-French driver line-up consisting of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, with 29 and 15 points to their names respectively.
