Nissan Tekton spied testing: All about Duster, Creta rival
Nissan India recently launched the new Nissan Gravite MPV in the Indian market. And now, the company is getting ready to introduce the new Nissan Tekton SUV. Ahead of its official debut, the SUV has been spied testing on Indian roads. The upcoming Nissan Tekton will be positioned in the 4.2m to 4.5m SUV segment and will be based on the same platform as the Renault Duster. The latest spy images, captured near Pimpri close to Pune, reveal the vehicle’s road stance and overall exterior profile.
The spy images of the Nissan Tekton reveal the side and rear profile of the test vehicle. The test vehicle is equipped with steel wheels, suggesting it could be the base variant. It does not feature a sunroof or a rear wiper. Visible design elements include squared wheel arches, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles and a curved roofline. At the rear, the SUV has a roof-mounted spoiler, a raked windscreen, C-shaped connected tail lamps and a large bumper.
Dimensionally, the SUV is expected to be similar in size to the new Renault Duster, which measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. The front design is not visible in these images, but the Tekton is expected to feature top-mounted LED daytime running lamps and a full-width LED light bar. Other elements include LED headlamps, a rectangular grille, two chrome bars with the Nissan logo at the centre and bumper corner protectors. The SUV also has a sculpted bonnet and large TEKTON badging.
The Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the new Duster. A 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 100 PS power and 160 nm torque paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Another engine is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol with 163 PS power and 280 nm torque paired with a 6-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual. There’s also a bigger 1.8-litre strong hybrid petrol engine with 109 hp paired with a 49hp electric motor and a 20hp hybrid starter generator (HSG), paired with a 1.4kWh (280V) battery. Together, this configuration delivers a combined system output of 160hp and 172Nm.
Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 48-colour ambient lighting, keyless entry with push button start/stop, multi-drive modes and more.
