Hyundai Verna facelift vs Honda City: Price, engine & specs compared
Hyundai Motor India recently launched the updated Hyundai Verna facelift in the Indian market. The updated Verna receives cosmetic upgrades, new features, added safety and much more. Interested customers can book the sedan online or visit their nearest dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. It continues to compete with the Honda City, VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Hyundai Verna vs Honda City: Variants and price
The Hyundai Verna facelift now receives new variant names and is offered in six variants - HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6+, HX8, and HX10. It’s priced between Rs 10.98 lakh and Rs 18.25 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The Honda City is offered in a total of four trims - SV, V, VX and ZX. Additionally, it’s also offered in Elegant, Apex and Sport editions with minor cosmetic and feature enhancements. It’s priced between Rs 12.05 lakh and Rs 16.17 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The Hyundai Verna is Rs 1.07 lakh cheaper at the base end and Rs 2.08 lakh more expensive at the top end compared to the Honda City (ex-showroom).

The Honda City measures 4,583 mm in length, 1,748 mm in width, 1,489 mm in height, has a 2,600 mm wheelbase, 165 mm ground clearance, and a 506-litre boot space. The Hyundai Verna facelift measures 4,535 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,475 mm in height, has a 2,670 mm wheelbase, 165 mm ground clearance, and a 528-litre boot space.
Compared to the Honda City, the Hyundai Verna is 48 mm shorter, 17 mm wider, 14 mm lower, has a 70 mm longer wheelbase, the same 165 mm ground clearance, and a 22-litre larger boot.
Hyundai Verna vs Honda City: Powertrain
The Hyundai Verna gets two engine options - a 1.5 litre NA petrol with 115 PS and 143 nm torque and comes paired to a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Another engine option is a 160 hp, 253 nm 1.5-litre turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The Honda City is offered in two engine options - a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine that puts out 121bhp and 145Nm of torque and comes paired either with a 6-speed MT or a CVT gearbox. There’s also segment first hybrid powertrain offer, a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle hybrid engine with 124 hp and 253 nm torque.

The Verna facelift gets features such as leatherette seat upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat and a four-way electrically adjustable front passenger seat, dual 10.25-inch screens, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, Bose speakers, a surround-view camera, a Level-2 ADAS suite, ventilated front seats, sunroof, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, a blind-spot monitor, a rear window sunshade, connected car tech, a built-in dashcam, seven airbags and much more.
The Honda City gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a sunroof, six airbags, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, ADAS, lane watch camera, automatic climate control, connected car tech and more.
