Triumph Daytona 660 to break covers on January 9: Here's what to expect
British marque Triumph Motorcycles has teased a new, fully-faired motorcycle on its social media handles. The motorcycle, anticipated to be the Daytona 660, will globally break covers on 9 January 2024, 5:30 PM according to the Indian time. While official details remain cloaked in secrecy, going by the ‘660’ moniker seen on the company’s website, we can expect the all-new model to share its engine with the Tiger Sport 660 and the Trident 660.
Speaking of the 660cc Triumph engine, it is a three-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit capable of delivering 81 hp and 64 Nm of peak torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch, we can expect a different state of tune to suit the characteristics of the middleweight sportbike.
Based on the teaser and spy shots, the Daytona 660 displays a striking fully faired design. Noteworthy features include a split LED headlight arrangement, set of clip-on handlebars, and footpegs that are set slightly on the rear side. Other expected features include a bi-directional quickshifter, and a traction control system. Suspension duties will likely be carried out by non-adjustable USD forks in the front and a monoshock unit on the rear side.
Like the other siblings, the newcomer will get two riding modes namely, Rain and Road, however, the possibility of Triumph introducing a more aggressive riding mode remains to be seen, aligning with the sporty positioning of this motorcycle.
Upon launch, the Daytona 660 will lock horns with the likes of Yamaha R7, Kawasaki Ninja 650, and HondaCBR 650R among others.
