Hero Xtreme 125R vs TVS Raider vs Honda CB125 Hornet: Engine, features, price
The 125cc motorcycle segment in India is fiercely competitive right now. These bikes have come a long way and offer much more than what was expected from this class just a few years ago. The Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider 125 are already well-established players here. Lately, Honda has joined the fight with the new CB125 Hornet. All three bikes are aimed at young riders and here’s how they stack up in terms of engines, features and pricing.
When it comes to performance, the Honda CB125 Hornet is powered by a 123.94cc single-cylinder engine that puts out 11 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Honda claims a 0–60 kmph sprint time of 5.4 seconds, making it the quickest among the three. It is also one of the lightest bikes here, with a kerb weight of 124 kg.
The TVS Raider 125 uses a 124.8cc single-cylinder motor that produces 11.2 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox, the Raider weighs 123 kg, making it the lightest of the trio. TVS claims a 0–60 kmph time of 5.8 seconds, placing it close behind the Honda in outright acceleration.
Hero’s Xtreme 125R comes with a 124.7cc engine that develops 11.4 hp at 8,250 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. While it makes the highest peak power, it is also the heaviest bike here, with a kerb weight of 136 kg. The 0–60 kmph run takes 5.9 seconds.
In terms of features, the TVS Raider gets a 5-inch TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, SmartXconnect technology and even voice command support. However, it misses out on ABS, which may matter to some buyers.
The Honda CB125 Hornet focuses on a mix of safety and premium hardware, offering single-channel ABS and segment-first USD front forks. It also gets a 4.2-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity via the Honda RoadSync app and a Type-C charging port.
The Hero Xtreme 125R takes a more straightforward approach, featuring a digital instrument cluster, USB charging and bot single and dual-channel ABS options.
Pricing is another key factor in this comparison. The TVS Raider 125 remains the most affordable option, with prices starting at Rs 82,010, ex-showroom. The Hero Xtreme 125R sits higher at Rs 89,000, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Honda CB125 Hornet is priced at Rs 1,14,582, ex-showroom.
